3 / Almaly – Slide 3

Вторая реконструкция Алмалы 2018-2021 в ограниченном доступе и «Елки 8» в ограниченном прокате / The Second Reconstruction of Almaly 2018-2021 in Limited Access and «Christmas Trees 8» in a Limited Rental

In the summer of 2017, the Almaly underground shopping center was closed again for reconstruction, which was scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. But by the end of the year, a new draft was prepared. In February 2018, the City Council of Almaty approved a new concept of the Almaly Shopping and Entertainment center as a complex of family and children’s leisure. After that, a new reconstruction of the Republic Square and the Almaly complex began. The completion of construction work was scheduled for 2021.

The changes on Republic Square in Almaty echoed the release of the films «Christmas Trees 6: New» (2017), «Last Christmas Trees» (7th, 2018) and «Christmas Trees 8» (working title «Real Christmas Trees», 2021).

The films «Fir Trees» can be called a laboratory of karma in space and time, over short and long distances, as well as over short and long periods of time. The stories could be separate or joined together, as if blown by the wind, assembling them into a single karmic cycle or wheel of karma.

«Last Christmas Trees» was the last film in which Timur Bekmambetov was the producer, as well as the director of one of the parts. As for the next film, «Christmas Trees 8» (the working title is «Real Christmas Trees»), he only inspected the progress of work on it. «Christmas Trees 8» was released in 2021 in a limited box office.

On September 25, 2020, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev inspected the construction work of the Almaly family and children’s leisure complex on Republic Square during a working trip to Almaty.

Almaly was opened to citizens in 2021 to a limited extent, as its underground part remained closed.

Продажа Bazelevs и «мягкий перезапуск» франшизы «Елки» / Sale of Bazelevs and the «Soft Relaunch» of the «Christmas Tree» Franchise

In 2022, Timur Bekmambetov sold his stake in Bazelevs to general producer Lala Rustamova and commercial director Timur Asadov and withdrew from the Christmas Trees project.

The 9th film «Christmas Trees 9» (2022) became an «independent sequel and a soft relaunch of the franchise» without the participation of Timur Bekmambetov.

In June 2023, the National Media Group (NMG), a private Russian media holding, acquired exclusive rights to new films from Bazelevs film Studio.

The 10th film «Christmas Trees 10» was a sequel to the 9th film, but it also starred actors from the 8th film. The 11th film «Christmas Trees 11» was a continuation of the 10th, and after its release, the 12th film of the «Christmas Trees» series was planned.

Жаңаөзен – «Новая река» / January 2022 events in Kazakhstan. Karmic zeroing involving Russia and 5 other countries of the former USSR. Zhanaozen – «New River»

On January 2, 2022, after a sharp increase in prices for liquefied natural gas, which occurred on January 1, 2022 in connection with the transition to a market pricing mechanism, protests began in Kazakhstan, later known as the January events, Bloody January or the January Tragedy. The protests began in the town of Zhanaozen (Kazakh «New River») in western Kazakhstan (Mangystau (Kazakh «Thousand wintering grounds») Peninsula on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea), and spread to other cities, reaching the largest extent in Almaty.

The protesters shifted from economic demands to political demands, which included the resignation of the government and the departure from politics of the country’s first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev.

A state of emergency has been declared in Kazakhstan. The prices of liquefied natural gas were frozen, which did not lead to a decrease in protests. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dismissed the government of Askar Mamin and headed the Security Council of Kazakhstan instead of Nursultan Nazarbayev.

On January 6, at the request of the President of Kazakhstan, the CSTO operation in Kazakhstan was announced, which included the armed forces of Russia and 5 other countries and was declared as a peacekeeping mission to protect important facilities and help maintain law and order. On the same day, order was restored in the country.

In Almaty, during the protests, the authorities lost control of the city; the former presidential residence and akimat (mayor’s office) were burned down, and the protesters seized Almaty airport. The Almaly family and children’s leisure complex, located in front of the Akimat, was also damaged.

The Yellow River flows into the Yellow Sea. To the north of it are the remains of a prehistoric homo erectus, the Eastern and Western tombs of the Qing emperors (the name was transformed from Jin — «gold» to Qing — «pure»), their summer residence, Wolf’s Fang Mountain, a section of the Great Wall of China and proximity to the Yellow Sea. Hebei is the setting of early Chinese myths.

South of the Yellow River there are cultural layers, the Temple of the White Horse, three of the seven ancient Chinese capitals, three cultural and historical state-level cities and regional discrimination. Henan is the «cradle of culture».
